The Evangelical Faith, Volume 2

The Doctrine of God and of Christ
Helmut Thielicke, translated by Geoffrey W. Bromiley

Now available in paperback, Thielicke's widely-acclaimed, three-volume series constructs a system of Christian theology that is responsive to the needs and questions of the modern age. The product of a lifetime of scholarship, The Evangelical Faith constitutes a comprehensive dogmatic of the Christian faith. It deploys the same breadth of insight and clarity of analysis that has already secured Thielicke's reputation as one of the leading Christian thinkers of the 20th century.

Vol. 2: The Doctrine of God and of Christ. Thielicke begins with a discussion of revelation and proceeds to a penetrating critique of natural theology. Against the background of present day secularism, he examines God and meaning, God and the good, the personality of God, the doctrine of the Trinity, and law and gospel. He then enters his systematic discussion of Christology by addressing some methodological issues raised by our uniting the universal/ cosmological and the individual/ historical in Jesus Christ.

Helmut Thielicke was First Dean of the Theological Faculty and Professor of Systematic Theology at the University of Hamburg. He is the author of many books including Between God and Satan, A Little Exercise for Young Theologians, Out of the Depths, The Silence of God, and Theological Ethics.
