Book Description

Without question the word “love” sums up the essence of our Christian faith; we are commanded to love God, our neighbors, ourselves, and our enemies. Nonetheless, many Christians struggle with living by this high standard of love in a world filled with injustice, cruelty, war, and division. To love in the face of these realities seems difficult, if not impossible. Sometimes Christians are afraid to practice love for fear of ridicule or being seen as weak. Is Jesus’ ethic of love, as some people assert, unrealistic for the modern world?

William Tuck believes we cannot—must not—give way to this negative philosophy. Jesus has challenged us to move to a higher way, a way that offers us light, guidance, and hope on this difficult path. Love as a Way of Living will help readers understand the New Testament meaning of love and incorporate this love into daily living.

We love because God first loved us. It is then our responsibility to understand, practice, and live authentically the way of love.

Book Reviews

“William Tuck has done for our generation what Henry Drummond and C. S. Lewis did for theirs: he has written a book about love that is beautiful, wise, and bracing. It is full of interesting stories, rich reflections, and helpful pastoral counsel. The author vindicates his title by displaying how love is indeed a way of living— the faithful Christian way.”

— Fisher Humphreys
Professor of Divinity, Beeson Divinity School

“Bill Tuck always writes with insight, passion, and relevance. In Love As A Way of Living we have vintage Tuck on a majestic theme.”

— Walter B. Shurden
Minister at Large
Mercer University
