Funny When You Think About It: Serious Reflections on Faith is a collection of Brett Younger’s best columns for Baptist News Global. He writes about things that matter to him and to the rest of us— religion, politics, church, family, and food. This collection is serious enough about faith to see the humor in it.
Brett Younger is the Senior Minister of Plymouth Church in Brooklyn, New York. He loves his hometown and his delightful congregation. Dr. Younger previously served as a professor at the McAfee School of Theology in Atlanta and as a pastor in Texas, Kansas, and Indiana. He is the author of Time for Supper and Who Moved My Pulpit? He and his wife, Carol, co-authored Mark: Finding Ourselves in the Story. Brett and Carol have two grown sons, Graham and Caleb.
“Brett Younger is a voice of joy and sanity in a world of judgment and division. His collection of essays will make you think, laugh, pray, and ponder.”
—Susan Sparks Senior Pastor, Madison Avenue Baptist Church New York City
“Many people of faith feel almost stricken in these days: how in the world do we stay engaged, let alone in dialogue, with one another? How do we speak up and out, with love and respect? . . . Pay attention to the ordinary scenes unfolding around you. Find the hilarity and the heartbreak; they go hand in hand. . . . This is a book that will give you courage to get up in the morning.”
