The book of James is the Rodney Dangerfield of the New Testament. Critics of the book are many, and Martin Luther even tried to have James excluded from the Bible. James has been criticized for being too deeds-oriented in contrast to the writings of Paul, which focus on justification by faith. There is no mention of the Holy Spirit in James, and only two mentions of Christ. James is not our usual New Testament book.

James is a book filled with wisdom and practical insight for living. Its practical nature underscores the role of ethics in Christian living, and yet connects that living to a vibrant faith.

Many modern adults are pragmatic people. They want value for the money, and to know that time and energy have a result. Six-week plan:
This six-week plan is simply one option for the study. In each week, two brief chapters are covered. For groups open to a lengthier study, the material will easily cover twelve weeks.
