The International Sunday School Lessons Plan

The International Sunday School Lessons plan of the Uniform Series provides a listing of Bible text outlines for study across a six-year period. These outlines propose only the text to be studied and do not propose interpretations, doctrines, or religious implications that are to be drawn from the study of the respective texts. Conclusions derived from study of the texts are left in the hands of those who use the outlines in order to produce an orderly Bible study curriculum for use in the local church’s Christian education ministries. The outlines are chosen to cover as much of the Bible "as is fruitful for group study" across a six-year plan.

A new series of lesson plans are issued for every successive period of six years, thus ensuring that interest through variety and continued faithfulness through thematic coherence are maintained in the suggested study outlines. The International Sunday School Lessons plan of the Uniform Series has been adopted for use by Christian churches in America and around the world for well over 100 years.

It is a policy of the International Sunday School Lessons plan of the Uniform Series "to include in each year’s study a consideration of some aspect of the redemptive work or teaching of Jesus and some (encouraging) challenge to the Christian way of life."

Stuart Lamkin is the editor of the Uniform Series Bible Study. He is married to Sara, whom he met while they were students at the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond (BTSR). Before attending BTSR, he studied history at Rhodes College in Memphis. Stuart has served on church staffs in Tennessee and Virginia, ministering in such areas as youth, children, and church planting. He enjoys watching and talking about movies, absorbing the news, researching family history, and playing Frisbee.
