Examination Policy

Smyth and Helwys Publishing will provide examination copies of books to professors who wish to consider titles for classroom adoption according to the following policies:

The request for an examination copy must be submitted in writing, by mail, by fax, or by email on school letterhead with an indication of the course for which the title is being considered, expected enrollment (minimum of 5 students), and the semester/quarter of possible use to the attention of the Textbook Marketing Department, Smyth & Helwys Publishing, 6316 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210.

Only single copies are provided. The publisher reserves the right to refuse any examination request.

The professor will be billed at a 50% discount, plus shipping, net 90 days. At the end of 90 days, the professor has three options:

1) The professor must notify the Textbook Marketing Department that the book has been adopted as a text, listing the semester/quarter of use. The invoice will be canceled in full, and the book becomes a desk copy if, and only if, you—the professor—or the school bookstore provides the information as stated above. Otherwise, you will be charged for the book, with accumulating finance charges until the necessary information is provided.

2) The professor can choose not to adopt the book, but keep it and pay the invoice with the special 50% discount plus shipping and handling.

3) The professor can return the book in clean, re-saleable condition for full credit, and the invoice will be canceled. The shipping and handling charges will not be cancelled.

Desk Copy Policy

A professor who has adopted a Smyth & Helwys title for classroom use and has not been sent an examination copy may request a complimentary desk copy. Requests for desk copies must be submitted in writing on school letterhead and directed to the Textbook Marketing Department, Smyth & Helwys Publishing, 6316 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210, listing the title, course, semester/quarter of use and enrollment (minimum of 5 students). Desk copies are limited to single copies, and the original order must have been placed with Smyth & Helwys.
