The Christian Life as a Journey

Those of us who participate in the evangelical tradition are well aware of the stress that is laid on “leading people to Christ.” It’s important to preach and teach in such a way that people are persuaded to become Christians. Unfortunately, so much stress is often placed on “leading people to Christ” that we seem to forget why we want a relationship with Christ in the first place. Being a Christian is about spending a lifetime following Christ. This study focuses on the ongoing character of the Christian life.

If we wish to follow Jesus, we must follow where he is going. A careful study of his life indicates that he nearly always ministered to people’s pain before seeking to teach them or tell them anything. His life, in fact, was driven by an apparent desire to life the fallen, heal the broken, and encourage the struggling. His invitation to us all is this: “Come, follow me.”
