Embracing missions involves caring for people in other towns and countries and caring for people we see across aisles at the store. Nurturing compassion in children may be the most important goal of effective mission education. The sessions present numerous opportunities and resource to help you nurture and practice compassion as your group learns how God wants us to care. God’s mission has no borders.

This unit uses the familiar image of “teams” to address the subject of missions. Our children live in a world of teams. Uniforms come in preschool sizes these days – on the soccer field, in the band room, and even in the classroom. The word “team” creates a picture that children of all ages comprehend. Using the image of a team helps us explain how the church does God’s work in the world.
