Furr is a graduate of Carson-Newman College, Southeastern Theological Seminary, and Baylor University. He is a member of the Academy for Spiritual Formation. Curtis Freeman is assistant professor of Christianity and Philosophy at Houston Baptist University. He is also pastor of the West End Baptist Church in the inner city of Houston. Freeman is a graduate of Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
