Intrigued, How I Love to Proclaim It offers a smorgasbord of quirky glimpses into the vagaries of daily life, from warm memories of sweet tea served in a washtub to the cold reality of a daughter’s untimely death. Drawing on a rich background afforded by one rural upbringing, three academic degrees, twenty-six years as a pastor, five years as a religion editor, a full family life and a half century of simply paying attention. Tony Cartledge gently suggests ways in which readers might celebrate both obstacles and opportunities with faith and hope in a God who is always present and sometimes seen.

The book is a select compilation of the author’s "Intrigued" columns in the Biblical Recorder. They are chosen from those published during his first five years with the historic North Carolina Baptist news journal, and in celebration of the Recorder’s 170th anniversary.

Tony Cartledge became an academic and a writer because both were a lot easier than chopping Bermuda grass in the pea patch. He became a pastor and a religion editor because he believed God told him to, and that settled that. He became a keen observer of all things curious because, well, that’s just the way he is. This kind of writing gives him the chance to reflect theologically on odd bits of everyday life, which is his idea of fun.
