Introduction to the chapter Know My Love

Excerpt from ChristHeart
by Jeanie Miley

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him would not perish, but would have eternal life. (John 3:16)

The life of Jesus was one of love. One can see the very essence of who he was in his loving acts that took place while he walked the hills and valleys of a specific place at a specific time in history.

This was a man who loved nature. He used the birds of the air and flowers of the field as visual aids, holding them up as teaching tools.

Jesus loved family and community life. He loved his friends and family. Note the compassion and tenderness with which he held little children and took care of his mother. Read the Gospels and see how much time he spent with his disciples. Jesus loved the whole world, and he loved individual persons.

Jesus loved the Scriptures and the law, religious practices and observances. But more than all these, he loved his heavenly father and the new life his father wanted him to convey to his followers. This new life had to do with love; it was formed in love and is about love.

Always the Son of Man extended love. He initiated relationships with others out of love. Jesus gave love lavishly and freely. Today, through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus the Christ extends his love to you.
